Intense temperatures of summer are slowly declining
The intense temperatures of summer are slowly declining, with night times cooling off. You can expect that soil temperatures also are dropping. Now is the time to sow lettuce, carrot, Swiss chard and kale seed. Seed of buttercos variety lettuce germinated in just 24 hours a few days ago, while rainbow Swiss chard seed took only 48 hours to germinate. If that’s not your preference, plant broccoli and Brussels sprouts seedlings now, as well. Fall gardening is underway! Bring on the scarecrows.
