With cooler temperatures, it’s time to clean up your plot, completely removing all expired plants and dead leaves, stems and other debris, and disposing of this properly. Please don’t leave such debris in the Community Garden containers; rather, put it in the uncleared edge along the side of the garden near the upper walking path bridge where it can decompose. Removing debris thoroughly from your plot minimizes the possibility of overwintering unwanted pests. And whether you choose to plant cool season crops or just let your plot rest for a bit, add mulch to help enrichen the soil for the next planting.
