‘Tis the season – for seed catalogs. Time to sit down with all the enticing offerings from seed producers to dream of the vegetables, herbs or flowers you could grow in next year’s garden. You can order seeds for heirloom varieties; you’ll help sustain biodiversity. Or order varieties bred for disease resistance or those that can better tolerate drought. And be adventurous: try okra that yields orange-colored pods; ground cherry, a vine that yields small, sweet fruit for bite-sized snacking, jams or deserts; or soapwort, an herb that can be used to create natural soap. The possibilities are extensive; enjoy your winter browsing time!
